Newcastle United team news: Nabil Bentaleb gets Premier League debut as Bruce resists Rose start

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce resisted the temptation to start with all three of his January signings against Norwich City.

The Magpies started with Nabil Bentaleb in the middle but Valentino Lazaro and Danny Rose were only named as substitutes.

Bentaleb partnered Isaac Hayden in the middle with Matt Ritchie retaining his place at left wing-back.

Joelinton was forced to start the game in attack with Andy Carroll, Dwight Gayle and Yoshinori Muto all injured.

Bruce namer Christian Atsu - linked with a deadline day move to Celtic - was back in the squad.

Sean Longstaff missed out on the starting X1 against the Canaries.

United : Dubravka, Yedlin, Fernandez, Lascelles, Clark, Ritchie, Hayden, Bentaleb, Almiron, Joelinton, Saint-Maximin.

Subs : Darlow, Schar, Lejeune, Lazaro, Rose, Atsu, S Longstaff.
