Newcastle United team news: Karl Darlow among seven changes as Matty Longstaff gets a debut

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce made SEVEN changes to his starting XI for the League Cup clash against Leicester City.

The Toon boss handed Karl Darlow a chance between the post while defenders such as Ciaran Clark, Fede Fernandez and Jetro Willems came in from the cold.

while Jonjo Shelvey was recalled after being dropped on Sunday at Spurs.

With Joelinton and Miguel Almiron struggling with injuries, Yoshinori Muto was handed a rare start.

Despite picking up knocks at Spurs, Jamaal Lascelles and Christian Atsu were deemed fit enough to start on the bench.

Before the game Bruce said: “Every single game we play - whether it’s a pre-season game, a Premier League game or a cup game - we want to go on and win. It’d be nice to go on a run in this competition this season and it’d be fantastic to win it.”
