Isaac Hayden passed a late fitness test to start Newcastle United’s game with Crystal Palace.
The former Arsenal man was named by Rafa Benitez alongside Ki in the engine room .
Benitez also recalled Fabian Schar into his defence after he returned from a head wound.
DeAndre Yedlin was also passed fit but Mo Diame did not make it into the match day squad.
Despite a poor show at Arsenal, Jamaal Lascelles retained his place in the starting line-up.
Benitez had said before the game: “Palace are good away because they are compact and have pace and ability up front.
“My message to the players is to be on the front-foot but Palace are very dangerous.”
