Newcastle United team news: Fabian Schar the only change as Steve Bruce sticks with Arsenal flops

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce kept faith with Joelinton in his frontline for today’s clash with Crystal Palace.

The Brazilian shook off a thigh problem to travel to Selhurst Park and Bruce handed him a start, despite having both Dwight Gayle and Yoshninori Muto available again.

Bruce had talked Gayle up before the game but did not tweak his offensive unit.

The only change Bruce made after the 4-0 loss at Arsenal last weekend was to replace injured Republic of Ireland defender Ciaran Clark with Fabian Schar.

It meant that Sean Longstaff continued in midfield alongside Nabil Bentaleb and Matty Longstaff remained on the bench.

For the second game running Bruce also named Matt Ritchie on the sidelines.

NEWCASTLE UNITED : Dubravka, Schar, Lascelles, Fernandez, Lazaro, Bentaleb, S Longstaff, Rose, Almiron, Saint-Maximin, Joelinton.

Subs: Darlow, Lejeune, Yedlin, M Longstaff, Hayden, Ritchie, Gayle.

Palace : Guaita, Ward, Dann, Cahill, Van Aanholt, Kouyate, McArthur, McCarthy, Zaha, Ayew, Benteke.

Subs: Hennessey, Kelly, Riedewald, Meyer, Townsend, Pierrick, Tosun.
