Newcastle United team news: Eddie Howe makes Joelinton call as Saint-Maximin benched again

Eddie Howe opted to start with Newcastle United star Joelinton against Fulham.

The South American forward kept his place after a week in which he was pulled over for a drink driving charge in the early hours of Thursday morning. Howe made a late decision on the £40million man but stuck with the influential first-team star.

And Howe did not change the rest of his starting line-up for the clash against the Cottagers. Nick Pope started in goal with Kieran Trippier captaining the side again at right-back. Sven Botman and Fabian Schar were the two central defensive partners and cup hero Dan Burn continued at left-back.

In midfield, Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock patrolled the middle of the park. Howe did not tweak his frontline with Joelinton, Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson starting in attack.

UNITED: Pope, Trippier, Botman, Schar, Burn, Guimaraes, Willock, Longstaff, Joelinton, Almiron, Wilson

Subs: Darlow, Lascelles, Saint-Maximin, Ritchie, Isak, Manquillo, Wood, Murphy, Lewis

Fulham: Leno; Tete, Diop, Ream, Kurzawa; Palhinha, Reed; Decordova-Reid, Andreas Pereira, Willian; Mitrovic.

Subs: Cairney, Harris, Rodák, Wilson, Carlos Vinícius, Solomon, Chalobah, Adarabioyo, James
