Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce welcomed back Jonjo Shelvey and Miguel Almiron back into his starting line-up.
The duo were joined by Florian Lejeune who made his first start of the campaign for the Magpies.
United striker Andy Carroll also started his third game in four matches wth Christian Atsu and Sean Longstaff dropping down to the bench.
Lejeune was making his first appearance at senior level since April - ironically against Crystal Palace, the side he endured his knee injury against.
Bruce again included Dwight Gayle as sub while Karl Darlow was back on sub duty after a back injury kept him out the week before.
