Former Nottingham Forest director of football Frank McParland is being linked with a move to Newcastle United.
As the Saudi Arabia-backed £300 million deal edges closer, reports in the national press have linked McParland with a director of football role at St James' Park.
Whenever the takeover is confirmed, that could spell the end of Steve Bruce's reign as the new owners look to put their stamp on the club.
One way they do that could be restructuring the way the footballing staff is setup, bringing in a director of football role to oversee transfers and establish a philosophy with a head coach appointed.
That's the way Forest do things, with current boss Sabri Lamouchi overseen by Kyriakos Dourekas, who was installed in December 2018 replacing Luke Dowling who moved to West Bromwich Albion
Before Dourekas, though, was McParland.
Formerly of Brentford and Rangers, he was appointed before Mark Warburton arrived at the City Ground in March 2017.
McParland left along with Warburton and his assistant David Weir after seven months when they were sacked in December 2017.
The Independent claim that McParland could partner up with Owen Brown, while Lille pair Luis Campos and Domenico Teti are being considered.
Newcastle's takeover could spell the end for Jack Colback, a Forest favourite during his time on loan across two City Ground spells.
Colback is out of contract and Reds fans have made it clear they would like to see him in red again.
He made 55 appearances in all competitions for Forest, joining in January 2018 and again the following summer.
