Newcastle United supporters deliver verdict on Garang Kuol World Cup debut

Newcastle United supporters have given their thoughts about future Magpies striker Garang Kuol's substitute appearance for Australia in their World Cup opener against reigning champions France.

The Socceroos took a surprise 1-0 lead after Craig Goodwin latched onto the end of Mathew Leckie's cross into the six-yard box but the French soon responded in turn.

A header from Adrien Rabiot and a simple tap-in from Olivier Giroud meant Les Bleus were leading at half-time in what seemed like a tight match.

However, a Kylian Mbappe header halfway through the second half meant the French secured all three points before Giroud's second of the match was headed past Matt Ryan to make him France's top all-time goalscorer tied with Thierry Henry.

It was at this point when Kuol made just his second senior appearance for the Socceroos, as he replaced Goodwin for the last 15 minutes of the match.

Taking to social media, Magpies fans and the club itself recognised how impressive it was for him to be playing at the World Cup at such a young age.

@JustZephh_26: He's Kuolity!

@footballratioNG: He is very good on the ball.

@3215CV32: Howay, hopefully he starts against Tunisia. Australia need to throw the kitchen sink at them!

@Plasticshinpads: Brought on too late, game was over.

@BUIE01I: Should have come on when it was 2-1.
