Newcastle United supporters deliver Anthony Gordon verdict with Sean Longstaff injured

Newcastle United supporters are hoping Anthony Gordon can put in a good performance in a rare start against Southampton at St. James' Park. The January arrival has had to bide his time since making the £45million move from Goodison Park.

Eddie Howe's side can further strengthen their grip on the top four with their Champions League rivals set to play one another this weekend. Manchester United take on Aston Villa while Tottenham Hotspur travel to Liverpool. A win for the Magpies would see them either increase their gap over the chasing pack, or move clear of the Red Devils if results go their way.

The Toon are taking on a Southampton side that are locked at the foot of the Premier League, but Ruben Selles' side have fared well against sides in the top half in recent weeks.
