Newcastle United suffer SIXTH soft tissue injury in 120 minutes as questions over injuries mount

Newcastle United were hit by two injuries in the first 28 minutes of their clash at Wolves today.

The Magpies lost Paul Dummett with just 12 minutes played as he left the field with what appeared to be a recurrence of a groin strain that kept him out of the festive period.

Then 16 minutes later Dwight Gayle’s hamstring injury returned to haunt him with the striker replaced by Christian Atsu.

In a shocking statistic it proved to be Newcastle’s SIXTH soft tissue injury in 120 minutes of action.

Newcastle had ended the game against Leicester with 10 men as Fabian Schar, Jetro Willems, Jonjo Shelvey and Javier Manquillo all suffered soft tissue injuries.

Before the game Bruce had spoken happily about the return of his senior stars but he was forced into a major reshuffle before the half hour mark.

Miguel Almiron had put Newcastle ahead early on before Leander Dendoncker equalised.
