Newcastle United striker Joselu reveals he has "possibilities" to quit Magpies this summer

Newcastle United striker Joselu has admitted he has the chance to leave the club this summer.

The Magpies will not stand in the Spanish centre-forward's way if he decides to quit Tyneside in the close season, but the 29-year-old says he is analysing all of the options.

With Rafa Benitez's future unclear and the prospect of a takeover, Joselu suggested he may wait before making a decision.

In an interview with Radio Marca in his homeland, Joselu said: "I have possibilities to change but it will depend on the new direction that will come to the club.

"I have one year left on my contract at Newcastle."

Joselu, who ended the season with just five starts to his name, was wanted by a Chinese Premier League club in January.

Back then, a £10million offer was discussed for Joselu but Rafa Benitez did not want to part with the striker as he was fearful of the former Real Madrid and Stoke City man not being replaced.

Joselu has had a tough time since his £5million arrival from the Potters but has weighed in with seven goals in his two seasons so far with the Magpies.

Benitez has always defended Joselu and said last season: "He is doing what he has to do in a team like us who, normally, will not have too much possession. We have to defend, we have to try to be sure we are in the right position without the ball.

"Then, after, you expect: ‘Well he has to be in the box.’

"Yeah, but we need to defend, because if not we cannot regain the ball.

"So I think he’s one of the players who works harder than anyone.

"You can say: ‘Oh, the strikers they have to score goals.’

"Yeah, fine, but you have to take everything in context.

"I believe he’s a good player for us, he is giving everything, and that’s it.
