Newcastle United star Fabian Schar contract extension confirmed despite talk of Bundesliga interest

Newcastle United have agreed a deal with Switzerland star Fabian Schar - despite talk from Germany he wants a move to the Bundesliga.

Morning headlines in Germany, on the back of Switzerland's 3-1 win over Turkey at the Euros, suggest Schar is keen on a move to one of the world's top leagues.

Given the elusive Sports 360 agency, who run Schar's affairs, have strong links with all of the top clubs in Germany those links should come as no surprise.

Yet Newcastle have Schar tied down.

The former Hoffenheim star has extended his current deal, as shown on Premier League records, but that doesn't stop cash buyers coming in with offers.

Head coach Steve Bruce said back in May: "With Fab Schar, I think there’s a clause in his contract where we can extend it."

The extension is said to be until 2022 which only offers Newcastle limited protection.

Bild also go on to say Newcastle will listen to offers for Schar but the same could be said of any player at most clubs outside the top six this summer.

Newcastle have also have an "offer" of a contract on the table for Federico Fernandez with no confirmation of that deal just yet although Chronicle Live understands that Paul Dummett has penned a one-year extension.
