Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes' injury scare for Brazil ahead of World Cup opener

Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes suffered an injury scare with Brazil ahead of the World Cup in Qatar later this month. The 25-year-old, who was celebrating his birthday, injured his right foot in a coming together in training yesterday.

Real Madrid forward Rodrygo appeared to stand on Guimaraes' foot in training. The Magpies playmaker left the field for several minutes to receive some medical attention before returning to action.

Guimaraes completed the session, but was limping and looked uncomfortable on his feet. Former Manchester United defender Alex Telles was on the end of rough tackle in the session, with Neymar catching the defender from behind,

Brazil boss Tite called for the practise to temporarily stop, before Telles returned to action. A Seleção were on day two of a five day training camp at Juventus in Italy, before flying out to Qatar for the World Cup on Saturday.

The technical staff have stressed the need to assess the physical condition of the international contingent after reporting for duty on Monday.
