Newcastle United skipper Jamaal Lascelles launches rallying call as Leeds United clash looms

Leeds United are currently in the middle of a ten-day gap between fixtures as they look to regroup following three consecutive defeats in all competitions.

Next up for Marcelo Bielsa's men is a trip to St James' Park to face Newcastle United on Tuesday evening, where they will face a side who's current problems far outweigh Leeds' recent blip.

The Magpies have taken just two points from their last 21 available in the Premier League and are on a three-match losing skid ahead of their Saturday night trip to Aston Villa.

Does no goals in three games worry Bielsa?

Steve Bruce is feeling the pressure in the Newcastle dugout, with his side going down 3-0 to Arsenal in their last match which was another blunt showing for the Magpies. Among the recent damning statistics is the fact that in their last 686 minutes they have scored one goal.

It comes as little surprise that as Newcastle get set to face Villa and then Leeds in a four-day spell, their skipper has issued a rallying call.

Jamaal Lascelles addressed the current issues facing the club following the defeat to Arsenal.

"Of course it is tough," he said. "We are annoyed at ourselves. We are disappointed with the situation we are in.

"The first half at Arsenal was all right, the second half was terrible and we have to look at ourselves as players.

"I have been in a lot of tough situations. It is about how you deal with them.

"We have the players to do it. We have to stick together with the manager and staff and players and try to do the right things."

Leeds head to St James' Park on Tuesday evening in a 6pm kick-off.
