Newcastle United set to tell Premier League giants that Sean Longstaff is 'not for sale' this summer

Newcastle United sources have insisted that Sean Longstaff is not for sale this summer.

Credible reports have emerged today via Sky Sports that Manchester United have an interest in the 21-year-old midfielder, but United chiefs have no intention of moving the Academy product on any time soon.

Longstaff only signed a contract extension last year, yet the club will look to revisit his situation once they resolve Rafa Benitez's future.

The midfielder is contracted with Newcastle until 2022, however, he could well be rewarded for his excellent start to life in the Premier League.

Man United scouted Longstaff during his run in the side between December and March but they weren't alone on his list of admirers.

Indeed, both Liverpool and Manchester City sent scouts to take a look at Longstaff before he picked up a knee injury while England's talent spotters were also spotted in the stands.

Longstaff is also happy on Tyneside and has both of his feet firmly on the ground.

The humble 21-year-old is currently on course to be fit for pre-season training on July 4.

With United potentially about to lose Mo Diame, Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey, Longstaff is the last player they are looking at moving on.
