Newcastle United set to take action against Joelinton after Covid breach

Newcastle United striker Joelinton is facing internal club action after posting a picture of himself getting a haircut and breaching Covid restrictions.

The club's record signing, who cost £40million from Hoffenheim, placed the picture on Instagram before removing it after club officials were alerted.

United's woe this week continues after suffering two defeats in the Premier League, a visa error which cost DeAndre Yedlin the chance to play against Aston Villa and Leeds United and now Joelinton's social media clanger.

A club statement read: “We are disappointed by the image shared by Joelinton.

“There are clear COVID-19 protocols in place and the club continues to guide and educate its players on their responsibilities.

“The club will be taking appropriate action internally.”

It remains to be seen how much of a part Joelinton plays at Everton or whether he will face a club fine.
