Newcastle United 'set price' for Sean Longstaff amid Everton and Southampton transfer links

Newcastle United have reportedly quoted a £10m asking price for academy graduate Sean Longstaff, according to the Mail Online.

The midfielder has just one year left on his contract, and the Magpies would not be entitled to any compensation should the 23-year-old opt to leave next summer.

The report claims Everton and Southampton are among the Premier League clubs linked, with Toffees boss Rafa Benitez said to be 'interested' in reuniting with the elder Longstaff brother.

Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is also listed as an admirer, although the departure of Jannik Vestergaard means a new centre-back is the priority for the remainder of the window.

Steve Bruce will reportedly keep the midfielder in with the first-team squad while he aims to bring in a replacement, with Leicester City's Hamza Choudhury understood to be a loan target.

Newcastle have made Longstaff's younger brother Matty available for loan this window, with Blackburn Rovers, Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United all linked with a move.

However, the report claims the Magpies want the 21-year-old to sign a one-year contract extension until 2023 before sanctioning a temporary exit.
