Newcastle United send Steve Bruce striker demand ahead of crunch Brighton clash

Newcastle United fans have sent manager Steve Bruce a striker message ahead of the team's crunch clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Newcastle are only two points clear of the Premier League drop zone as they head into their final 10 fixtures.

Brighton are also looking to pull themselves clear of relegation danger, with the two sides going head-to-head at the Amex Stadium on Saturday (March 20, 8pm kick-off).

Newcastle are having to cope without top scorer Callum Wilson, who is currently sidelined by injury.

Wilson has scored 10 goals in all competitions for Bruce's side so far this season.

Miguel Almiron is second on the list with five goals, followed by Joelinton on three.

Defender Jamaal Lascelles - whose last-gasp header earned Newcastle a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa - also has three goals to his name.

Strikers Dwight Gayle and Andy Carroll have only managed two goals between them this term - one apiece.

So, who should get the nod to start up front against Brighton? We asked you for your thoughts and received a big response.

There were plenty of calls for Carroll to been handed a start against the Seagulls, while some supporters would like to see him and Gayle line up in tandem.

Others think Joelinton deserves another chance to impress, despite a lack of goals in recent times.

Speaking after the Villa game, Bruce said: "We had so many good opportunities in the game.

"That little bit of quality at times is something we talk about but for the effort, the desire and the way they went about their job, there was nothing between the two teams."
