Newcastle United see gap reduced by one point in relegation battle as Fulham draw

Fulham picked up a point in their lunchtime relegation battle with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

It reduces the gap between Newcastle and the Cottagers to just three points but the London side have a better goal difference.

And former Newcastle captain Scott Parker can say his side are unbeaten in five games now.

The Cottagers now face a decisive week with a home game against Tottenham Hotspur in a London derby on Thursday (6pm) and then a trip to Liverpool next Sunday (2pm).

They will be back at Craven Cottage on March 13 for a home encounter with runaway league leaders Man City.

Meanwhile, Newcastle head to West Brom next Sunday for a high noon showdown at the Hawthorns against Sam Allardyce's side.

The majority of bookies still fancy Newcastle to pip Fulham and stay up this season.

After West Brom, Newcastle face Aston Villa at home then Brighton away.

Speaking after Sunday's draw with Palace, Parker said: "Overall, it's a big point for us.

"We move on. Next game. I see points.

"We can beat Spurs. I believe we can cause them problems.

"There are challenges, but I firmly believe we'll recoup and prepare for another tough game against Spurs."
