Newcastle United scout young Brazilian forward as they continue to look to add to their forward ranks

Newcastle United have scouted young Brazilian forward, Marrony, as they look to add another forward to their ranks this summer.

The Magpies completed the club record signing of another Brazilian forward yesterday as Joelinton joined from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.

But Steve Bruce is still to keen to sign a full-back, a winger, a midfielder and another forward this summer ahead of the Premier League opener against Arsenal on August 11.

England internationals Andy Carroll and Danny Welbeck - both of whom are available on a free transfer - are names that have been mentioned, while Southampton forward Charlie Austin has also been linked.

However, I understand that Marrony is also an option Newcastle have looked at, with head of recruitment Steve Nickson reportedly watching the Vasco Da Gama forward in action in Brazil.

The 20-year-old has a €35million release clause but it is understood the Brazilian club would accept offers less than that.

There is also interest from clubs in Portugal and Italy but it is believed a move to the Premier League would be the forward's preferred choice if he was to leave Vasco this summer.

Marrony, whose current deal with Vasco runs out in 2023, has made 32 starts for Vasco this season, scoring six goals.

He is currently managed by former Real Madrid manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo and plays alongside ex-Barcelona forward Maxi Lopez at the Rio de Janeiro-based club.
