Newcastle United romped to a convincing Premier League 2 victory over Fulham at Little Benton.
The young Magpies secured a 3-0 victory to kick off 2020 in style after a solid second half display.
Ben Dawson’s side had left the field at the break feeling frustrated after failing to take advantage of the wind behind them.
On 10 minutes, Adam Wilson’s shot was saved well by Tate Ashby-Hammond.
The keeper then kept out Jack Young’s effort to keep Newcastle at bay.
Wilson had another good effort in first half stoppage time with the visiting goalkeeper tipping over the bar.
Mo Sangare twice came close at the start of the second period with Ashby-Hammond blocking him from inside the box.
But the black and whites finally found a way through when a ball in from the left fell for Yannick Toure.
Longelo then too it off his toes and fired home off the bar into the top right hand corner to cue wild celebrations on 64 minutes.
Toure then got in on the act with a good turn and finish inside the penalty area to double the lead on 80 minutes.
With just seven minutes left Dylan Stephenson crossed from the right to pick out Victor Fernandez at the back post who converted from close range.
Fernandez lost his cool in the closing stages when kicking out at his marker and picking up a yellow card.
And there was an injury concern for Mo Sangare who limped off with a gashed leg.
But it didn’t take the gloss off an impressive display by Dawson’s side.
