Newcastle United's U18s claim dramatic FA Youth Cup third round win at West Ham

Newcastle United’s U18s are into the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup after putting West Ham’s youngsters to the sword in east London.

A whirlwind last 20 minutes saw Michael Ndiweni break the deadlock before Divin Muamba pulled one back for the hosts.

A quick-fire double in stoppage time from Jay Turner-Cooke and Ndiweni gave Newcastle some breathing space, but the Hammers fought back and halved the deficit with just a minute added on remaining.

The young Magpies held on to secure a massive win at the Rush Green Training ground and send them through to the next round of the competition.

Victory against West Ham will be a huge boost for Newcastle as they aim for their first FA Youth Cup win since 1985.

A team featuring Paul Gascoigne smashed Watford 4-1 on that day over 35 years ago - a win that remains the only time Newcastle have won the competition.

Neil Winskill’s men will meet surprise package Colchester in round four, who shocked Arsenal’s youth side with a 3-0 battering at Florence Park.
