Newcastle United's spend on agent fees revealed: The full breakdown of all the deals

Newcastle United have spent almost £9million on agent fees this season, the 12th highest in the Premier League.

The Magpies have made six permanent signings, as well as brought in three further players in on loan, over the course of the past two transfer windows - with Miguel Almiron being the most high profile of the additions.

But the £8,868,027 figure which the Football Association revealed on Thursday when they published Revealed: The full amount Premier League clubs paid to agents this year and EFL clubs also includes new contracts that Newcastle have negotiated with their players across the course of the 12-month period between February 1, 2018, and January 31, 2019.

The representatives of Dwight Gayle, Sean Longstaff, Elias Sorensen and Magpies captain Jamaal Lascelles are among those to have received commission from Newcastle over the past 14 months.

Interestingly, Mikel Merino's agent was also paid by Newcastle a full four days after his transfer to Real Sociedad was confirmed, though it is unclear whether this was money owed from an earlier deal.

Ki Sung-yueng's agent is likely to have received a reasonable sum given that the South Korean joined Newcastle on a free transfer, while Salomon Rondon and Yoshinori Muto's respective representatives were also among those paid by United.

It is believed that the Magpies spent the best part of £50m on transfer fees over the past 12 months, taking their total expenditure once agent fees are included to between £55m to £60m.

How the Premier League's new winter break will affect Newcastle - with lucrative friendlies banned

With Newcastle having paid out £7,409,760 in the 12 months prior to these newly-released figures, United's spending on intermediaries has risen by £1,458,267.

But, while United's expenditure has risen, they have actually dropped a place in the spending stakes, given that they were the 11th-highest spenders last season.

Individual payments to intermediaries by United have not been released, but the average fee received by agents dealing with Newcastle works out at £492,668.

Interestingly, the Magpies account for just 3.5 per cent of the figure spent by all 20 Premier League clubs - with the cumulative total for the top flight coming in at an eye-watering £260,664,118.

Liverpool were far and away the highest individual spenders on agent fees, with the Reds forking out £43,795,863 - while Manchester City (£24,122,753) and Manchester United (£20,759,350) the only other clubs to part with more than £20m each.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Cardiff City spent the least on agent fees, paying intermediaries just £2,802,375.
