Newcastle United's Joe White is called up to England's u18 squad

Joe White has been called up to represent England at U18 level for the first time - just days after signing his first professional contract.

The 17-year-old was all smiles earlier this week as he penned his first deal with Newcastle United and has been rewarded further with an England call-up.

White, who has also featured for the U23s twice this week, will head down to St Georges' Park next week before travelling to Spain hoping to feature in at least one of the three games England will play.

England U18 coach Ian Foster will  see his side face Russia on November 14th before games against Norway and the Czech Republic.

The games will take place at The Pinatar Arena in Murcia, a stadium United know well having played there twice over the last two campaigns.

Speaking about signing on a professional basis with the Magpies, White said: "I'm absolutely delighted to have signed.

"It's something I've been aiming to achieve since I've been here at Newcastle and it's something I've worked extremely hard for as well.

"It's a proud moment for my family as well - they've done so much for me and I'm so grateful to them for that."
