Newcastle United's grand plan once Kieran Trippier transfer is completed revealed

Newcastle United will push Kieran Trippier through his medical today and agree on personal terms.

However, the deal, worth an initial £12million, is already set between Atletico Madrid and the Magpies and Trippier's salary has been agreed in principle.

An initial two-year contract for the 31-year-old is on the table for Trippier at St James' Park with the club's boardroom prepped for his expected arrival.

United are hoping to unveil the England international in due course but are already moving behind the scenes on other deals as they look to sign a centre-back and enquire about more offensive players.

A United insider has told the Chronicle that the club will be proactive and aim to move on quickly from the days of January disappointment for their loyal fanbase.

Both Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi have taken the lead on transfers assisted by existing staff and transfer consultant Nick Hammond, although the former Celtic director of football is scheduled to depart later this month.

The new owners understand the frustration of recent results but now are finally in a position where they can start making changes to the current playing staff.

Fans can expect departures as Newcastle look to balance the squad.

Sources in Spain say that Trippier requested to leave once Newcastle's interest became serious in the last month or so.

Having asked to be transferred last summer to Manchester United, Trippier has been impressed by the way Newcastle have bent over backwards to make the deal possible.

Although, Trippier was granted permission by Atletico only on the basis the deal was done quickly.

Atletico want to bank the proceeds for his sale and move on to a replacement and stipulated any delays would result in him being summoned back to Spain.

Yet Newcastle do not anticipate any issues and have the resources to make the deal happen.

Atletico have Portugal and Wolves star Nelson Semedo on their wish-list as a possible replacement for Trippier.
