Newcastle United's 'concrete' Amadou Haidara transfer interest and 'ridiculous' Diego Carlos bid

Here is your 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.

'Concrete' Haidara interest

Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara has become one of the latest names linked with a January switch to St James' Park.

The Mali international has previously been linked with Manchester United, and initial reports have suggested Newcastle would have to commit to an outlay of more than £80m in a transfer fee and wages to secure the 23-year-old.

However, German title Bild via Sport Witness suggest that it would take far less for the Bundesliga side to 'consider a sale' of Haidara in this window.

The midfielder is widely reported to have a £33m release clause which becomes active in the summer, and the report insists Newcastle's interest in the player is 'concrete'.

'Ridiculous' Carlos offer

The Magpies continue to be linked with a move for Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos, with reports on Thursday morning suggesting a second bid had been rejected.

An offer believed to be in the region of £20m was knocked back for the 28-year-old, and Spanish outlet Marca claim Newcastle are some way short of meeting the La Liga's club valuation.

The report outlines Sevilla's determination to keep hold of the defender, although there is an indication that there is still some way to run in negotiations.

Marca believe a bid of almost double the latest offer will be needed to tempt Sevilla to sell Carlos, who is seen as an irreplacable player for Julen Lopetegui.
