Newcastle United's Callum Wilson chase facing strong competition as Villa bid is made

Newcastle United are facing stiff competition for Callum Wilson after Aston Villa made a £15million offer for the England international.

Wilson wants to leave AFC Bournemouth after the club we’re relegated from the Premier League in July.

United are believed to have spoken to the player’s agent Will Salthouse about a swap deal with Matt Ritchie plus cash.

We understand that Ritchie is torn about a move back to the South Coast after signing a new contract with the Magpies earlier this year.

Newcastle have a limited budget to spend this summer with the club citing the virus pandemic as the reason why club finances have been hit - something Steve Bruce has spoken about in Press conferences this summer.

Wilson is desperate to make the move to the Premier League again, and Villa are trying to push in front of Newcastle to get a deal done.
