Newcastle United's pre-season is well under way as the Magpies look to build on last season's 12th-place finish.
While United had a winter to forget, their form picked up dramatically in the latter stages of the 2020-21 campaign, which saw them finish comfortably above the Premier League relegation zone in mid-table.
Steve Bruce and Co are looking to kick on from that position in the coming season, with the Magpies head coach hoping to add to his squad in the coming weeks.
After missing the end of last term with injuries, Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles and Isaac Hayden are back in training, while Florian Lejeune has returned to Tyneside after a season-long loan in Spain.
Newcastle have several pre-season fixtures before the big kick-off against West Ham on Sunday, August 15, and it started with a defeat to York
Bruce's men face several more friendlies on the road, before entertaining Premier League new boys Norwich City at St James' Park a week before the season gets under way.
