Newcastle United reveals fresh injury concern in build-up to Everton game

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has a fresh injury concern ahead of the clash with Everton.

Spanish defender Javier Manquillo has a muscle problem and will be assessed in the build-up to the encounter at St James' Park.

Bruce at least has cover for the ex-Liverpool man in DeAndre Yedlin and Emill Krafth but the news that Manquillo is struggling is a blow after his recent good form.

Manquillo marked Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha out of the game in the last home match before Christmas.

After the defeat at Man United, Bruce said: "I don’t think there are any new injuries.

"Manquillo has a calf that he’s been complaining about but we’ll see what tomorrow brings."

Bruce wants a big improvement from his defence against Everton.

After losing to Man United he reflected: "We gifted it to them.

"That is the biggest disappointment we all feel. You can't make that many mistakes here. It is disappointing.

"The reason we have got a few results is the way we have defended.

"We made far too many individual errors."
