Newcastle United replace Joe Joyce with Steve Harper as Academy chief

Newcastle United have confirmed the departure of Joe Joyce from the club's Academy.

The long-serving youth supremo had been at the club since 2006 but he will be replaced by Steve Harper until the end of the season.

A United statement read: "Joe Joyce has left his position as Newcastle United’s Academy Manager.

"Joe joined the club in 2006 and played a key role in the Academy achieving Category One status as part of the Premier League’s Elite Player Performance Plan in 2014.

"The club would like to thank Joe for his service and wishes him well for the future.

"Steve Harper will fulfil the Academy Manager role on an interim basis until the end of the 2020/21
Academy season in June.

"A further announcement on Academy management will be made in due
course."
