Newcastle United relegation prediction has changed on the back of impressive winning run

Newcastle United supporters will love the latest update from a Premier League supercomputer after their win over Aston Villa.

FiveThirtyEight, a supercomputer which predicts the final standing in the division, previously tipped Newcastle to finish in the bottom three, but that's all changed after three wins on the bounce.

The Magpies are now being tipped for Premier League survival, finishing the season on 35 points, after three wins on the bounce against Leeds United, Everton and most recently, Aston Villa.

The results have moved Eddie Howe's side out of the relegation zone and four points above the relegation places with a game in hand.

Newcastle have been a completely different side since the January transfer window slammed shut, and since the arrival of Eddie Howe on Tyneside.

The Magpies still need to play relegation rivals Norwich City and Burnley before the season is up, but have some daylight between themselves and the bottom three after an impressive run of results.

The Toon face a tough run of fixtures against West Ham, Brighton and Chelsea but a winnable tie against Brentford could see them move further adrift of the relegation zone.

Howe is still bedding in a number of his new signings, but has been dealt a huge blow after Kieran Trippier suffered a broken bone in his foot in the win over Villa.

The Magpies head coach is yet to hand Bruno Guimaraes his full debut, but the Toon Army are expecting big things from their statement signing.
