Newcastle United receive offers for Freddie Woodman amid Arsenal and Celtic interest in transfer

Arsenal and Celtic been named as two clubs monitoring Freddie Woodman's situation at Newcastle United this summer amid offers from the Championship for the goalkeeper.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed success with England at youth level winning the Under-17 European Championship in 2014, the Under-20 World Cup in 2017 and the Toulon Tournament in 2018.

He also won the Golden Gloves at the Under-20 World Cup two years ago playing alongside Ainsley Maitland-Niles and former Chelsea and Liverpool forward Dominic Solanke.

Woodman has only one year left on his deal with Newcastle having refused a contract offer last season following which he was denied a move on loan.

Chronicle Live report that the young goalkeeper is being chased by two Championship clubs with Arsenal and Celtic waiting in the wings to potentially make moves of their own.

The Gunners sold David Ospina to Napoli and saw Petr Cech retire as a player this summer leaving Emiliano Martinez as their only senior back up to Bernd Leno following a successful loab spell at Reading for the Argentinian.

It is not the first time that Woodman has been linked with interest from the north London club.

With the young shot-stopper set to be out of contract at the end of the season, he could be leave St. James' Park on a free for the Emirates Stadium next summer if the Gunners can convince him that he has a future at Arsenal.

Earlier in July, he spoke out about his career plans, as reported by Chronicle Live.

"It's difficult for me to say," he said. "I've got a year left on my contract. It's an awkward situation.

"I just want to keep getting games and minutes and learn as much as I can."
