Newcastle United recall goalkeeper Nathan Harker from loan spell

Newcastle United have exercised their right to recall goalie Nathan Harker.

The 21-year-old was one of the stars of the season in the Under-23s last season and has been spending time at National League North side Blyth under former Toon player Lee Clark.

But the keeper has now ended his spell at Croft Park.

A Blyth statement read: "Nathan Harker has left Blyth Spartans after Newcastle United decided to recall him from his loan spell at Croft Park.

"The 21-year-old joined Spartans in the summer on a loan deal until January 2020, however found limited game time at the club.

"Harker started Byth’s opening six games of the season but would make just a further two appearances outside of August.

"In total, he appeared eight times for the club – his last coming in the 2-0 defeat at Boston United last month.

"We’d like to place on record our thanks to Nathan and wish him the very best for the future."

Harker returns to a United reserve squad that currently has Dan Langley and Jake Turner battling for the gloves.
