Newcastle United 'pushing' for January transfer target and linked to Chelsea duo

Here is your 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.

Hamza Choudhury on loan?

Newcastle United head coach Steve Bruce is keen to agree a loan deal for Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury, according to the MailOnline.

The Magpies considered a temporary move for the 23-year-old in January, only for Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers to decide against a deal after being unable to secure a replacement.

However, the £17m arrival of Boubakary Soumare will likely push the former England under-21 international even further down the pecking order.

The latest report indicates Choudhury is 'open' to a switch to St James' Park, and suggests Bruce would be open to sales of Ciaran Clark, Jeff Hendrick, Sean Longstaff and Fabian Schar to boost his transfer budget.

Ethan Ampadu and Malang Sarr interest

Chelsea defensive duo Ethan Ampadu and Malang Sarr are reportedly on the Magpies' list of potential loan signings this summer, according to the Express.

The report claims Thomas Tuchel is open to temporary exits for the pair, who spent last season on loan at Sheffield United and Porto respectively.

However, United would be unable to agree deals for both Blues defenders, meaning Bruce would have to decide between the two centre-backs.
