Newcastle United open to offers for centre-back duo as Rob Holding left waiting on loan move

Newcastle United are believed to be open to offers for both Fabian Schar and Florian Lejeune.

Sources from clubs in Europe have suggested both have been put up as possible swap-deal options as Steve Bruce has been left to wheel and deal in the remainder of the transfer window.

The Magpies have also not ruled out the exit of DeAndre Yedlin while they continue to look for moves for Achraf Lazaar and Henri Saivet.

Chronicle Live also understands that a loan deal for Arsenal's Rob Holding has not progressed in the early part of the week and may not go through until Newcastle's squad is trimmed down.

Holding is ready to go at Arsenal after the Gunners signed Brazilian defender Gabriel from Lille yesterday but United had not kicked on to sign the 24-year-old target at the close of play on Tuesday night.

Newcastle do retain an interest in Holding but a move will be dependant on how Bruce shuffles his pack in the next couple of weeks.

Schar is currently injured but has less than a year left on his deal while Lejeune has attracted interest from Ligue 1.
