Newcastle United open the door for Matty Longstaff loan exit

Newcastle United have agreed to allow Matty Longstaff to leave on loan.

The midfielder was limited to just a handful of games last season and has also been used sparingly in pre-season.

The former North Shields Athletic junior did not make the bench in the 4-2 defeat against West Ham at the weekend.

With Joe Willock arriving from Arsenal and set to play a major role this term the Magpies need to offload midfielders in order to bring in cover in other positions.

Longstaff had chances to join Scottish Premiership sides earlier in the summer but is now hoping for a move to the Sky Bet Championship.

The 21-year-old is believed to be attracting interest from Sheffield United, Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town.
