Newcastle United offered transfer proposal that could see them land England striker Callum Wilson

Newcastle United have had a transfer proposal put to them that could see England international Callum Wilson make the move to Tyneside.

However, it would see winger Matt Ritchie heading in the other direction as part of a swap deal plus cash and Wilson will want £75,000 per week, with both Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur also making their enquiries on the striker.

Bournemouth would also have to thrash out terms with Ritchie with the Scotland international only signing a three-year contract back in March.

Ritchie's departure would be softened by the fact that Jacob Murphy is back with the Toon squad after a loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday and set to get a last chance at Newcastle.

United have looked at Wilson throughout the summer as well as his Bournemouth team-mate Josh King.

But Wilson is pushing for a move from the South Coast after the Cherries were relegated and knows his England chances will suffer if he plies his trade in the Sky Bet Championship.

Wilson - who has scored 41 goals in the Premier League in 126 games - has a price tag of £30million and Ritchie's presence in the deal would reduce that figure.

Wilson's arrival at Newcastle would lift the fanbase a little with excitement and enthusiasm for the new season currently at a low level on Tyneside.

The deal has been put together by agent Will Salthouse who represents both players.

Newcastle currently have Dwight Gayle injured, Joelinton believed to be in isolation and Yoshinori Muto on the transfer list.
