Newcastle United news as Jurgen Klopp takes aim at Magpies ownership and makes 'no ceiling' jibe

Here are your Newcastle United evening headlines on Saturday, October 15.

Jurgen Klopp takes aim at Newcastle United ownership and makes 'no ceiling' jibe

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has taken aim at Newcastle United's ownership by claiming his Reds side cannot compete with the likes of the Magpies, Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain.

It is no secret that the three clubs Klopp mentions are all gulf state owned. Newcastle are Saudi Arabian owned, while City and PSG are backed by the United Arab Emirates and Qatar respectively.

The resources available to these three clubs pale in comparison to the rest of Europe. When Newcastle were bought by PIF this time last year, it moved the club into a different stratosphere with regard to their finances.

Newcastle United notebook: Castore talks planned, astronomical Bruno fee and Isak fitness caution

Newcastle United will look to hold talks with Castore about the future after inheriting a "multi-year" contract from the old regime.

The deal included allowing Castore to operate the club shop at the Gallowgate End and bring in their own staff. It remains to be seen how long the agreement with the Manchester-based manufacturers goes on for.

It is expected that the club's new CEO Darren Eales will hold talks with Castore about how the relationship benefits both parties. Newcastle are set to end their agreement wth Fun88 a year early and the Chinese firm will no longer be on shirts next term.

FA told 'no way' Eddie Howe would consider ditching Newcastle United for England

Former Sunderland striker Darren Bent insists there is “not a chance” Eddie Howe would ditch Newcastle United for England. Speculation regarding Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions future has ramped up after an underwhelming Nations League campaign.

No wins in six games against Italy, Germany and Hungary relegated England from League A and resulted in poor preparation for next month’s World Cup. Despite taking his side to the cusp of European Championship glory last year, Southgate is facing calls - rightly or wrongly - from sections of supporters for the axe.

Howe was forced to deflect questions linking him to the England job a fortnight ago. While not ruling out the offer indefinitely, the Toon boss candidly suggested his short-term future remains on Tyneside.

Manchester United's 'weakness' will be perfect for Newcastle and Allan Saint-Maximin to exploit

Manchester United's full-backs are the weak link Newcastle United and Eddie Howe should look to target as the teams meet this Sunday at Old Trafford, according to Manchester Evening News reporter Steven Railston.

The Manchester United writer set out the main weakness of Erik ten Hag's side, which will be welcomed by Toon fans given the form of Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy as well as the potential return of Allan Saint-Maximin to Newcastle's XI.

Speaking on The Everything is Black and White Podcast - The View From the Opposition - Railston said: "Definitely the fullbacks. Diogo Dalot for all he has improved I'm not fully convinced, and I don't he's an elite fullback by any means and defensively he's not that good.

Newcastle United set 'top six' aim amid Europa League return target

Darren Bent has tipped Newcastle United to finish in the top six in the Premier League this season. The Magpies have registered back-to-back victories over Fulham and Brentford respectively - scoring nine goals in the process - to climb into the top six.

The former Sunderland forward expects Newcastle to stay in contention for the European places and believes that finishing in the top six must now be the aim for the club this season.

"If they can get in the top six, back in Europe, that would be massive for Newcastle United Football Club," Bent told talkSPORT.
