Newcastle United midfielder turns down MLS move despite two-year-deal offer

Newcastle United midfielder Kyle Scott has turned down the chance to move to the MLS.

The 23-year-old impressed while on trial with FC Cincinnati and sources say he was offered a two-year deal which could have been extended for a further 24 months.

However the former Chelsea youngster rejected the chance and has returned to the UK.

Scott received hundred of messages from Cincinnati fans urging him to sign for the club but a source says the offer ‘just fell short’ and he is now ‘exploring other options.’

It’s understood Scott has his heart set on staying in Europe - and is looking for a side in a top flight. The midfielder is said to understand that at his age, first team football is now a must.

Newcastle still have an option to extend Scott’s stay by 12 months come June but given they head coach Steve Bruce is said never to have spoken to the midfielder it seems unlikely the club will make that move.
