Newcastle United make third pre-season announcement and how you could be there

Newcastle United have confirmed their third pre-season fixture of the upcoming campaign with a trip to Burton Albion.

The Magpies will travel to face the League One outfit at the Pirelli Stadium on Friday, July 30, with kick-off scheduled for 7.45pm.

Pre-season contests with Harrogate Town and York City have already been confirmed for July 18, with Steve Bruce's side set to be split for the simultaneous fixtures.

United's only previous visit to face Burton came during the 2016/17 Championship-winning campaign, with goals from Dwight Gayle and Mo Diame sealing a 2-1 victory for Rafa Benitez's side.

The reverse fixture was shrouded in controversy, with referee Keith Stroud wrongly ruling out Matt Ritchie's penalty before the winger's long-range strike earned the hosts a 1-0 victory.

As it stands, United supporters could be able to experience their first away day for 16 months with the pre-season contests.

Ticket information for all three fixtures have yet to be announced, but details will be confirmed on the club's website in due course along with further friendlies ahead of the new season.
