Newcastle United loanee Kelland Watts wants to beat Sunderland at the Stadium of Light

Newcastle United loanee Kelland Watts wants to beat Sunderland at the Stadium of Light tomorrow.

The 21-year-old who is on loan at Plymouth Argyle has been a mainstay in Ryan Lowe's side since arriving at Home Park.

The Pilgrims are yet to win on the road this season in League One but, Watts wants to beat the Black Cats on their own turf.

Speaking to PlymouthLive, he said: "I was speaking to some of the lads and they found it weird when I was saying I can’t wait to play at the Stadium of Light.

“They thought I wouldn’t want to, but I want to play in those games and beat them on their turf.

“Hopefully, one day, I can play in derby matches for Newcastle against Sunderland, but to play against them for Argyle, I can’t wait. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Watts was part of the Newcastle Under-21's side that was thrashed 4-0 by the Black Cats in the Checkatrade Trophy in 2019.

He said: "I played there once for Newcastle’s under-23s in the Checkatrade Trophy.

“We brought about 4,000 mad Geordies and they sang for 90 minutes. It was a great experience. Hopefully it’s not the same score on Tuesday!”
