Newcastle United linked with Alfredo Morelos again as asking price 'drops' to £13million

Newcastle United would face intense competition to sign Rangers star Alfredo Morelos this summer - although it has emerged that the Colombian striker is available for just £13million.

Toon boss Steve Bruce is an admirer of the 28-goal man but was told that the Ibrox club would not be interested in selling back in January when Newcastle desperately needed a striker.

But after Rangers slipped out of title contention in the early part of 2020, new reports fro Spain - via Goal - state that the Gers are resigned to losing the South American this summer.

The 23-year-old has been linked with Leicester City, Crystal Palace, relegation-haunted Aston Villa and Newcastle ahead of the next transfer window.

However, the reports also suggest that Spanish sides Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Sevilla are also keeping a close eye on his situation.

Rangers had initially expected a fee of over £25million and were believed to have knocked back a £25million offer of instalments for Morelos in January, but after football's economics were hit severely by the COVID-19 crisis, their demands are deemed unrealistic.

And a few of around £13million is being mooted from the player's representatives.
