Northern Ireland international Jamal Lewis still has a future on Tyneside and could be back in a Toon shirt in pre-season. Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe says he has felt some of Lewis' pain in recent times after the left-back suffered a groin problem early in his reign at St James' Park.

"I'd love to see him back in pre-season and show us the player he can be."

Meanwhile, Howe also confirmed that England international Kieran Trippier and former AFC Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson both remain on course for comebacks this term. The duo are recovering from foot and calf injuries respectively.
