Newcastle United interested in Liverpool's England under-21 striker

Newcastle are one of six clubs who have checked out the possibility of loaning Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster.

The 20-year-old scored 11 times at Swansea last season and Liverpool are considering handing him a first team squad role next term.

But the likelihood is he'll leave to get Premier League experience, and Newcastle are one of a clutch of top flight clubs who are keen.

Aston Villa, Brighton, Burnley, Fulham and Crystal Palace are also credited with an interest, along with Norwich, Bournemouth and Watford.

A season-long loan move is a possibility and mirrors the situation with Tammy Abraham a couple of years ago, when Rafa Benitez was keen on the Chelsea striker.

Benitez ultimately missed out as Swansea brokered a deal for the forward, but Bruce would be hopeful an offer of first team football might count for them.

Brewster - an England under-21 striker - last week said that he'd prefer to stay with the Reds.

"Ultimately, I want to be at Liverpool next season," he said.

"I want to be fighting for a spot to play. Who is not going to want to play at the home of the champions? I don’t really want to go on loan, but if that’s the best thing for me to do, to go away and get more game time, then that’s what I’m going to do."

Meanwhile, Jacob Murphy looks set for another spell out on loan. Rangers are interested but Middlesbrough and Derby County are also keen.
