Newcastle United injury latest as forward faces late test ahead of Norwich clash

Newcastle United will run a late fitness check on Allan Saint-Maximin ahead of the trip to Norwich City this weekend.

The Magpies, though, will have Jonjo Shelvey available for the clash at Carrow Road after the midfielder came off against Arsenal.

The French winger has not trained this week after making his debut last weekend.

Steve Bruce said today: "Jonjo Shelvey is going to be OK.

"It's a slight doubt for Allan Saint-Maximin, slight hamstring and we'll see how he does today. Krafth is fit."

United will also be without calf victim and longer-term injury worry Andy Carroll.

Bruce said: “He’s (Carroll) done a bit of running on the grass.

"He’s still four or five weeks away, but I’m sure he’s going to have a big part to play."
