Newcastle United injury boost could hand Eddie Howe selection dilemma for Leicester City

Ryan Fraser's return to training could hand Eddie Howe a selection headache ahead of Newcastle United's trip to Leicester City.

The former Bournemouth winger was left out of the matchday squad as the Magpies picked up their first victory of the campaign with a 1-0 win against Burnley.

Fraser was ruled out with a minor hamstring injury according to club officials, with the expectation that the 27-year-old would be fit to feature at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Miguel Almiron replaced the Scotland international in the starting eleven and delivered an impressive display, earning a 9/10 score in Lee Ryder's player ratings.

Fraser was pictured in the club's training gallery from Wednesday's session, indicating the winger will likely be in line to return as expected at the weekend.

Howe has already proven he is not afraid to change personnel and formations in his four matches to date, but there could also be a temptation to stick with a winning team.

Fraser was replaced after just nine minutes in his last outing against Norwich City as the head coach turned to Federico Fernandez in the wake of Ciaran Clark's red card.

However, both player and manager have been quick to dispel any concerns over a rift stemming from the winger's acrimonious exit from Bournemouth.

Speaking on their relationship, Fraser recently told NUFC TV: "It's very, very good. Everyone looked at the end of it and thought it wasn't good. But we have always been good.

"I don't know what that came from. It was nothing personal, we have done a lot for each other, he's done a lot for me and I've done a lot for him.

"We did go for coffee in the summer before. We respect each other better."
