Newcastle United hoping for treble injury boost ahead of Watford test

Steve Bruce is hoping for a double boost ahead of the trip to Watford.

Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin are expected to be assessed following thigh trouble while captain Jamaal Lascelles is also facing tests on an ankle problem.

Almiron was an unused sub while Lascelles and Saint-Maximin sat out the clash at the Etihad Stadium which United lost 5-0.

Bruce, speaking at his Press conference to preview the Watford game, said: "We will know a little bit more this afternoon.

"I hope Almiron, Saint-Maximin and the skipper will be OK. We will see. It will help us a little bit."

Bruce feels his team are capable of raising their game against the Hornets.

And he revealed that he has asked his team for a response.

Bruce said: "It was the manner of it. I still think we could do better.

"The measure of a good team is how you respond in it.

"It is important that we finish it off.

"We have to respond and I hope we can do that."
