Newcastle United hopeful of transfer breakthrough before West Ham game

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce says he is hopeful of making a breakthrough in the transfer window next week.

The Magpies are the only side not to make a summer addition to their squad with fans getting frustrated about the lack of recruitment.

United fans chanted against the owner Mike Ashley during the 3-0 win over Norwich.

After the game Bruce was asked about players, and said: “I really, really hope so… We’re still hopeful we can get our main target - I’ll try my utmost to make it happen."

When asked again about Joe Willock and a possible loan deal, Bruce told BBC Newcastle: "We’re in dialogue with Arsenal, but we have to respect he’s their player.

"Until we can reach an agreement with Arsenal, and what they want, the rest is immaterial."
