Newcastle United have contract offer on table for talented kid Bobby Clark amid Liverpool links

Newcastle United have offered hot prospect Bobby Clark a new deal at the club's Academy - despite strong links with Liverpool.

The Magpies have a scholarship on the table for the son of former Toon star Lee Clark, and would like him to remain at the club where his dad became a terrace idol in the 1990s.

Chronicle Live understands that the club have now left that decision to the player and his family.

Clark has burst on to the scene in Newcastle's youth system and made his Under-18 debut at the age of just 14 and he has already represented England at youth level.

Reports have suggested that Clark is keen on Liverpool as Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is keen on handing youngsters their chance on the big stage.

Newcastle will hope that seeing players like Sean Longstaff, Elliot Anderson, Matty Longstaff and Kell Watts get their first-team chances can offer some encouragement.

With new Academy manager Steve Harper also having close links with the first-team base and keen to offer a pathway for youth products to the club's Benton base, this season is also deemed a fresh chapter in terms of young players.

Harper is also a former team-mate of the player's father Lee after having two stints at the club with the midfielder under a host of managers.

Clark has also been linked with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the past.
