Newcastle United handed treble fitness boost ahead of Leeds United clash

Newcastle United have been handed a treble boost ahead of their encounter against Leeds United.

Having picked up knocks at Old Trafford in the 4-1 defeat, Steve Bruce had declared knocks for Joe Willock and Ciaran Clark, but the duo returned to training today.

Also on the scene at Benton was Scotland international winger Ryan Fraser who had suffered a foot injury while on duty for his country.

But despite being pictured in a protective boot last week he is in contention for the clash against the Yorkshiremen.

United said on their website on Wednesday: "Joe Willock and Ciaran Clark have trained ahead of Friday night's visit of Leeds United, with both appearing to have overcome the knocks they picked up at Manchester United at the weekend.

"Steve Bruce revealed after the match that the pair had been forced off due to injury at Old Trafford, along with goalscorer Javier Manquillo the United head coach will have been pleased to see them take part in Wednesday morning's session at the Magpies' Benton HQ.

"In another boost to Bruce, Ryan Fraser was also involved after he returned early from international duty with Scotland earlier in the month with an injury."
